CWS urges Nagaland government to address grievances of Sao Chang College students
DIMAPUR — The Chang Wedoshi Setshang (Chang Students’ Union) has submitted a memorandum to the director, Directorate of Higher Education, expressing the need to address the “genuine” grievances of the Sao Chang Students’ Union at the earliest.
It came a few days after the Chang Students’ Union Sao Chang College (CSUSCC) staged a protest in Tuensang town, demanding the concerned authorities to provide adequate bus service and a good road.
The CWS, apex student body of the Chang tribe, has requested the concerned department to immediately deploy a principal, saying that the institution has been functioning without one for almost four years; and highlighted shortage of teaching faculty — three assistant professors each in English and Mathematics departments; two asst. profs. each in Political Science, Zoology and Physics; one asst. prof. each in Economics, Botany and Chemistry departments – and immediate need of non-teaching staff — assistant librarian and library attendant.
It went on to urge the department to update the Science Laboratory, saying that the college can’t offer major subjects to shortage of faculty and non-availability of lab equipment.
The apex student body cautioned that it will be forced to serve an ultimatum if the department fails to immediately address the matters by September 20.
