Municipalities, town councils consultative meeting on September 16

DIMAPUR — A consultative meeting of three municipalities – AKMWP- All Kohima Municipal Ward Panchayat, Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation, and AWUMT- All Ward Union Mokokchung Town – and 36 town councils of Nagaland is scheduled for September 16 at 12 pm at Whispering Winds, DC Hill Sangtemla ward, Mokokchung. NLA secretariat notifies on assurance committee’s visit

DIMAPUR — The visit of the chairman of the Committee on Government Assurances (Z13-ZAZ4), Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA, to Nagaland House at Navi, Mumbai, has been postponed due to the ongoing second session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA). According to a circular from the NLA secretariat, the MLA was earlier scheduled to visit Nagaland House at Navi for on-the-spot verification from September 20 to the 23rd.

SS Punglwa gets new principal

DIMAPUR — Col. Arvind Nautiyal, has taken over as the ninth principal of Sainik School Punglwa, Nagaland, with effect from September 9. On his arrival, Nautiyal was welcomed by Lt. Col. Leena Bajaj, the vice principal on behalf of all officers, staff and cadets of the school, an update stated. Nautiyal, a native of Dehradun, and a computer wizard was commissioned from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun, into the Army Educational Corps (AEC) on December 8, 2001. “He has various staff and instructional appointments to his credit.  The officer has served with the Infantry Unit in the initial years of his service career,” it stated.

State-level Hindi Divas celebration

DIMAPUR — The All Nagaland Hindi Teachers’ Union (ANHTU) has informed its members that the 30th state-level Hindi Divas celebration, to be hosted by ANHTU, Kohima unit, will be held on September 15 at 11 am at URA Academy hall, Kohima. The union in an update stated that Advisor for Prison, Printing and Stationary, Kropol Vitsu, will be the special guest of the celebration.

MPCC cautions on garbage dumping

DIMAPUR — The Middle Point Colony Council (MPCC) has informed individuals, business establishments and residents, to immediately stop dumping garbage near the Smart Bazar, any other areas or in drains along the Circular Road/Tajen Ao Road. The council in a press release stated that volunteers will be deputed “near the spot” from September 11 onwards to check garbage being thrown randomly without any civility by shopkeepers, vendors, hotels and some residents. “CCTVs have also been asked to be installed at nearby establishments,” it stated. The council further informed that, as empowered by the Dimapur Municipal Council, it will be imposing fines of INR 1,000, 2,000 and 5,000 for the first, second and third offences, respectively.

NSCN (IM) condoles member’s demise

DIMAPUR — The NSCN (IM) has condoled the demise of ‘Lt. Col.’ Lohrii Kayina, of Ihoshe Battalion, Naga Army, who passed away on September 6. The NSCN (IM) in a condolence message stated that late Kayina, a native of Tadubi village under Shepoumaramth Region, enrolled in the Naga Army on November 15, 2004. “The Naga Army stands in paying homage to the departed soul… The precious service rendered by him for the cause of the nation shall always be cherished,” it stated.
