Cultural display marks conclusion of ‘Yemshe’ celebration

DIMAPUR — A two-day ‘Yemshe’ celebration of the Pochury community at Meluri headquarters concluded with a vibrant display of cultural heritage, traditions and merrymaking.

Advisor of New and Renewal Energy and NSDMA, Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, who was the chief host, emphasised that the festive occasion not only showcased the rich cultural heritage but, more importantly, brought all sections of the community together in a spirit of peace and harmony, strengthening the sense of unity in society.

A DIPR report stated that the second day of the celebration featured variety of cultural activities representing five areas of Pochury including MAPO, ARPO, KAPO, PPO and MAPO. It stated that folk dances, traditional songs and traditional games captivated the audience adding events like tug-of-war and greased pole climbing generated cheers and applause. A heartwarming solo was performed by seven-year-old Adusa.

The day’s proceedings began with an invocation prayer led by Fr. Marius Zachamo Patton, assistant priest of Meluri parish, and concluded with a benediction by Rev. Tivisie Pojar, pastor of BCMT. The event was presided over by the general secretary of Pochury Hoho.
