DIMAPUR — Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has drawn its attention to the ongoing tussle between the department of School Education and the All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) over the issue of delay in the release of salaries of the teachers and demanded the department to immediately release the pending salaries.

While underlining the important role played by teachers in society, NPCC felt it fair and prudent that care should be taken to ensure that they are not only remunerated handsomely but also on time.

It criticised the concerned department for making it a habit of delaying the salaries of teachers without any justifiable reason.

“We strongly condemn the abject incompetence and governance deficit of the concerned department and the government of the day, and demand that the pending salaries of our teachers are immediately released, with an express undertaking assuring that no such delays will occur in the future,” NPCC said in a statement issued by its communications department.

NPCC further affirmed to stand behind the aggrieved teachers and considered the injustice against them as nothing less than a full-scale assault on the rights and future of the children.
