Confidence can help overcome challenging circumstances, says Shanavas

Kohima, Nov. 8 (EMN):
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kohima, Shanavas C, on Tuesday, encouraged children to be confident and hold their heads high, regardless of circumstances, to excel in life.

He was speaking as special guest at the Children’s Day celebration organised by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) for Child Care Institution, at Highland Park in Kohima.

He told the children to strive for excellence with confidence; while reminding them that there is no shortcut to success and no substitute for hardwork.

The official, while expressing delight at the performances of the children, said they were talented and second to none.

He highlighted the life story of former President of India, APJ Kalam, who became the first citizen of the country, even though he had a humble beginning. Shanavas told the children to be inspired to work hard with dedication, despite challenging circumstances, to achieve success.

Earlier, a welcome address was delivered by Sekho Dawhuo, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Kohima. He called upon the parents and staff to express more love to the children, and likewise, advised the children to respect and obey their elders and parents. 

The programme was chaired by Vepotolu Ringa, PO (IC) and prayer was offered by Vili Kesiyie, House Mother of Observation Home Kohima. On the occasion, Avito presented a solo, children and staff of Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home, Kevi Children’s Home, Bright Morning Star presented special songs.
