KOHIMA — The civil works for the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office complex in Wokha have officially begun at the new site.

The Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE) of the Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD), Sungtiba Amer, led a team of officials to inspect the project on Wednesday and stressed the need to maintain quality workmanship and adhere to the stipulated project timeline.

Amer was accompanied by CAWD officials, administrative officers, engineers, and the contractor executing the project.

During the inspection, Amer expressed satisfaction with the current pace of construction. He stated that upon completion, the new DC Office Complex would be a vital step toward administrative development in the district.

The upcoming complex will feature a G+1 structural design with two basement floors, accommodating multiple administrative departments under one roof.

It was stated that the work order was issued in June 2025, and the project is expected to be completed within 36 months. The project was approved by the State Level Project Monitoring and Implementation Committee (SLPMIC) and is being implemented under the State Earmarked Projects category.

Amer urged the contractors to deploy adequate manpower, ensure uninterrupted material supply, and maintain strict quality control.

Earlier in the morning, the CAWD officials also inspected ongoing works, including the new Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex in Tseminyu, the VVPAT strong room, and the flat-type quarters for administrative officers.

The officials informed that the Tseminyu project is now progressing steadily. The complex will be a G+2 RCC structure featuring a 150-seater conference hall, accessible facilities for persons with disabilities (PwDs), and provisions for an elevator.

Later in the afternoon, the team visited the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) headquarters in Akuluto under Zunheboto district. The ADC complex, a G+2 building, includes PWD-friendly ramps, accessible bathrooms, and a conference hall.

The inauguration programme for the completed ADC office complex, Akuluto, is scheduled for Thursday (November 27), with Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, as the special guest and Advisor for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Kazheto Kinimi, as the guest of honour.
