DIMAPUR — National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) Longleng observed Children Dental Health Month at Government Primary School, Yongnyah Sector-C, on Monday.
According to a press release issued by CMO office, Longleng, Children Dental Health Month is observed to promote awareness about the importance of oral hygiene, encourage preventive dental care and fostering a culture of healthy food habits.
Dr. Chumei Nyam, dental surgeon at District Hospital, Longleng encouraged the children to brush their teeth twice a day, limit sugar intake. She also advised the children to eat more fruits and vegetables and to avoid tobacco products. Nyam also demonstrated teeth brushing techniques.
Dr. Nichukholie Vupru, district nodal officer, NOHP Longleng spoke on the importance of oral health and encouraged the students and parents to make a habit of visiting dentists regularly. He also said that parents must inculcate good oral hygiene habits in their children right from the beginning to prevent oral health issues.
Headmaster of Government Primary School, Yongnyah Sector-C, B Baujong Phom proposed the vote of thanks.
After the inaugural programme, the children were also given free toothbrush, toothpaste and IEC materials on oral health. The team led by Dr. Nichukholie Vupru also included Dr. Chumei Nyam and Angshom Chemdok, media officer, CMO office Longleng.
