Chakhesang Wrestling Association Championship on Feb. 10
Kohima, Feb. 6 (EMN): Naga-style wrestling of the 28th Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) championship 2022 will be held at Pfutsero Sports Complex on February 10.
The championship will be hosted by Secheku Wrestling Association and managed by Sakraba Youth Organisation.
Nagaland’s Minister for Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs,
Neiba Kronu will attend the occasion as the special guest and MLA, Kezhienyi Khalo as guest of honour.
The champion for senior category will fetch a cash prize of INR 2, 00,000 along with Late Chosanyi Rose memorial running championship belt. The second, third and fourth position holders will receive INR 1,50,000, INR 100,000 and INR 80,000 respectively. The losing quarterfinalists will also receive INR 10,000 each.
For the Under-16 category, the champ will receive INR 30,000, second will receive INR 20,000, third INR 15, 000, fourth INR 10000 and losing quarterfinalists INR 5000 each.
A total of 80 wrestlers including 20 wrestlers for Under-16 category from five area/range under Chakhesang Wrestling Association namely Chokri Area Wrestling Association (CAWA), Chozuba Range Wrestling Association (CRWA), Kezha-Kuzha Tephe Sports Association (KKTSA), Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) and Secheku Wrestling Association (SWA), will compete for the coveted title.
Meanwhile, the reigning champion, Venuzo Dawhuo, who is the two-time defending champion of the CWA, winning the title in 2018 and 2020, will also be back to defend the title.
The referees for the championship are Chisazo Dawhuo, Hükhoneyi Soho, Hüvesü Puro, Lhuvenü Phesao, Zehoto Kikhi, Keneingulie Nagi, Zacuta Puro, Pozoto Shijoh. Jury board includes Kope Kronu, Rüdasa Cürhah and Kukhoto Venyo.
The CWA has informed that the general body meeting will be held on February 9, at 2 pm at GA rest house, Pfutsero. Meanwhile, the association has extended invitations to all the wrestling fans to be part of the wrestling festival.
