DIMAPUR — As part of its 2023 campaign activities, Child Friendly Dimapur (CFD) undertook a plantation drive at different localities and educational institutions in Dimapur and Chümoukedima on June 24 and 25 by planting 450 ornamental saplings provided by the Forest department on the theme “One step towards creating a clean and safe environment for the children.”
An update from AIDA stated that the main goal of the plantation drive was to create awareness on the rights of the children (Article 24: Children have the right to good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment so that they will stay healthy), create empathy and a sense of responsible citizenship towards creating a clean and safe environment and work in collaboration towards creating a clean and safe environment for all.
It stated that school authorities, teachers, child rights club members, child rights facilitators, youth and adults from Sangtamtilla, Purana Bazaar, Kuda C, Tenyiphe I, K Sachu, Kacharigaon, Kirha, Selouphe, Government Higher Secondary School in Singrijan, Government High School in Burma Camp, Naga Colony, Evershine School, Government High School in Thahekhu and Government High School in Darogapathar have actively participated in the plantation drive.
Some of the upcoming programmes of the campaign are pledge campaign, drawing competition, poster campaign, workshop on beat plastic pollution, best out of waste training, cleanliness drive, flash mob, inter-college extempore speech competition, walkathon and art exhibition-cum-sales day.
