CAGSA 50th meet: Khulazu Basa beat Kikruma

Phüsachodü, Feb. 5 (EMN): Three-time champions Khulazu Basa maintained its momentum in the ongoing 50th meet of Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA), entering the quarter-finals in men’s football on Friday.

A lone goal from Lutuzo, just 10 minutes into the game, helped Khulazu Basa beat Kikruma at Phüsachodü village in Phek district.

The win pushed the defending champions to the top of the table in Group-A with six points. Despite Friday’s defeat, Kikruma qualified for the next round with a win and a loss in the league round.

Meanwhile, Thipuzu defeated North Kikruma 2-1 in a thrilling match. Verhakho Tunyi put North Kikruma ahead in the first half after he scored a goal through a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. However, Thipuzu cruised past their opponents with Cuzota Chuzho and Sevozo Rhakho scoring a goal apiece in the second half.

The match between Thenyizu and Chesezu ended in a goalless draw, as both team failed to break the deadlock. Chesezu is out of the race in the group stage.

In the quarter-finals, Khulazu Basa will take on Thipuzu, while Thenyizu will play against Kikruma to vie for the top two teams in Group-A.

In Group-B matches, Rukizu beat Chikri Nasa 3-0. Vekro Tetseo, Zhokho Thingo, and Vetsuzo scored for Rukizu.

In yet another match played between Chetheba and Khulazu Bawe, the former emerged victorious as Merito Nyekha scored two goals.

Chetheba will now take on host team Phüsachodü in the quarter-finals, while Rukizu will play against Khulazu Bawe.

Volleyball

In men’s volleyball, Chetheba defeated Chikri Nasa (25-15, 25-6), while Phüsachodü defeated Rukizu (25-21, 25-15). Chetheba will now play against Phüsachodü in the semi-final in Group-B.

In Group-A, Khulazu Bawe defeated Kikruma (25-21, 25-13), registering a berth in the semi-finals, where it will take on defending champion Thenyizu.

In women’s volleyball semi-finals, host team Phüsachodü will play against North Kikruma and Chesezu will take on Chetheba.

Basketball

In women’s basketball, Rikuzu beat Chesezu but conceded defeat to Chetheba in the second match.

Chetheba will now take on Phüsachodü in the semi-final.

In another match, Thenyizu defeated Khulazu Basa (11-6) to set a clash with Kikruma in the semi-final.

In men’s basketball semi-final, Chetheba will take on Thipuzu and Thenyizu will play against Rikizu.

Today’s events

Events like archery, arm wrestling, football and volleyball will be played on the sixth day of the sporting event.
