Temporary Bridge washed away between Jharnapani and Molvom, forcing traffic diversions on the Chümoukedima-Jalukie-Peren route amid heavy rainfall.
DIMAPUR — Dimapur Police have prohibited the movement of heavy motor vehicles on alternate routes connecting Chümoukedima and Peren after a temporary bridge between Jharnapani and Molvom was washed away by floodwaters triggered by incessant rainfall.
In a traffic advisory, the police informed that all heavy motor vehicles would remain off the affected route network until the damaged temporary bridge is restored.
Light motor vehicles travelling between Chümoukedima and Jalukie, Peren, and vice versa have been advised to use designated alternate routes. These include the 7th Mile Junction–Pimla village route via Shokhuvi village, the New Chümoukedima (Iron Structure Bridge)–Gaili village route via Ruzaphema village, and the Medziphema–Punglwa route via Sirhi Angami village and Sochunoma village.
The revised traffic restrictions came into effect immediately, with police urging commuters to follow the notified diversions and cooperate with authorities until restoration work on the temporary bridge is completed.
