Bicycle rally organised to promote clean election
With the view to promote clean and fair elections, a bicycle rally was organised by the office of the deputy commissioner and district election officer of Kohima on Saturday.
The rally was flagged-off at the DC office complex in Kohima and culminated at Raj Bhavan in Kohima with the participation of like-minded people led by the deputy commissioner, Shanavas C.
Addressing the brief flag-off ceremony, Shanavas C acknowledged the cyclists for coming forward in joining the campaign for a cause.
Pointing out that the state will be going for polls on February 27, the official pointed out that people have misconceptions and doubts on decisions during the election process, especially among the young minds because of lack of experience from the person concerned. However, he said ‘Change has to happen somewhere and somehow’.
The DC also encouraged the participants to carry the message for a free, fair and clean election under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign of the Election Commission of India, and urged them to ride towards a better future and a clean election.
Prior to the rally, Khrieneiu Metha, Pastor Peniel CRC, Billy Graham road Kohima, offered prayer.
