Kohima, Feb. 26 (EMN):
Commercial establishments in Dimapur, Kohima and other districts of Nagaland were shut on Friday, responding to the directive of the Confederation of Nagaland Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) to join the Bharat Vyapar Bandh from 6 am till 4 pm.

The CNCCI had earlier announced that it would support the Bharat Vyapar Bandh called by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) to protest issues related to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and “unethical business practices of foreign e-commerce companies” and directed all the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry to take part.

The general secretary of Kohima Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Akhrie Mor, said at a press conference that the bandh was limited to commercial business activities and it was successful in the state capital because of co-operation from traders of different traders union under KCCI.

Acknowledging the district administration and citizens for supporting the cause, the union expressed hope that ‘it will bring justice to all’.

Several trade bodies in the state, including Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry had earlier declared support to the call for bandh and the shutters in the commercial hub were down on the day.
