DIMAPUR — Ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra (Manipur to Mumbai), the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has termed the yatra as an “unwavering and resolute leadership embarking on a journey that seeks justice for all.”

“The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra stands as a truly momentous movement, and we eagerly anticipate the enthusiastic participation of conscientious citizens who fervently advocate for equitable economic, social, religious and political rights that will pave the way for a more promising and sustainable future,” the NPCC said in a press release.

Alleging that the current leadership in the state has regrettably failed to acknowledge and address the genuine challenges faced by the people of Nagaland, particularly the vibrant youth, the NPCC said the youth yearns for inspiration to embrace and foster a just and dignified system of governance in the state.

The state Congress unit said such a pursuit can only be achieved when individuals, entrusted with the responsibility to inspire others, strictly adhere to the principles instilled by the divine creator – principles rooted in truthfulness, courage to do right and unwavering accountability.

“Only by embodying these virtuous qualities can we construct a stable and righteous foundation for the progress of our dynamic society. The current government ceases its negligence towards addressing the pressing matter of the Naga political solution. It appears as though the government has conveniently forgotten the promises it made to the electorate during the elections,” the party said.

The NPCC went on to say that while the leadership may assume that the people are oblivious to these promises, the reality of the issues faced by the citizens paints a contrasting picture.

“It is high time that the government refrains from toying with the sacred sentiments of the Naga people. Instead, they ought to exhibit the courage and conviction necessary to deliver a clear and acceptable solution to the intricate Naga political issue.

“At present, the Naga community finds itself divided due to the unethical and avaricious practices of certain political leaders. These individuals place their personal gain and business ventures above the greater good of the Naga people. It is crucial for the government to demonstrate integrity and prioritise the interests of the people over their own political ambitions,” it said.

The NPCC further maintained that a genuine commitment to resolving the political quandary would not only restore faith in the government’s credibility, but also foster unity and progress within the Naga community.

“The time for action is now, and the government must rise to the occasion to fulfill its obligations towards the Naga people, as it has solemnly promised to do so,” it added.
