Axis bank inaugurates fifth branche office in kohima

  • KOHIMA — Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (MLA), Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, on Thursday encouraged young people to embrace financial responsibility and take advantage of banking services to pursue entrepreneurship and become economically self-reliant.

  • Dr. Rhutso stated this during the inauguration of Axis Bank's Lerie branch in Kohima, which marked the fifth branch for Axis Bank in Kohima. He informed that Axis Bank has 17 branches in Nagaland.

  • He stated that Axis Bank has more than INR 10 lakh crore deposits all over India and over INR 15,786 crore in the northeast. He also shared that Nagaland alone has no less than INR 2,088 crore deposits. Despite having only 17 branches in Nagaland, Axis Bank already has 27 ATM in the state.

  • Highlighting the aspirations of youngsters to be self-sufficient and take up business and entrepreneurship, the legislator expressed hope that the bank would extend a helping hand. At the same time, he advised the youth to be honest, faithful and sincere and also understand their responsibilities to repay the loan.

  • Just as the earth rotates on its axis, he expressed hope that the newly opened bank branch office would become the axis of the city’s economy. He envisioned the bank as a space where clients would come together and foster bonds of friendship—even among those not previously on good terms.

  • He further stated that the new facility in the city would enable young people to seize opportunities, understand their financial responsibilities, grow economically and contribute to the city’s development.

  • Meanwhile, the cluster head of Axis Bank Ltd., Dimapur cluster, Puojaulung, in his speech, expressed delight in expanding the bank’s presence in Nagaland. He stated that it would be a full-fledged branch and not just an extension that would offer all banking services to customers.

  • He highlighted various services that would be available at the new branch such as savings and current accounts, term deposits and loans including retail and government-sponsored schemes (GSS) as well as PPF, APY, national pension system, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, etc.

  • He added that the bank would provide forex products, cards and MAB and facilitates investments in mutual funds, Demat, digital gold, life and non-life insurance. Digital services like internet banking, a highly rated mobile app (rated 4.7), WhatsApp banking, Fastag, and digital rupee would also be available, he informed.

  • The cluster head encouraged residents to visit the Axis Bank branch and avail those facilities, stressing that the bank also needs their support through account openings. He mentioned the bank’s willingness to collaborate with the colony on financial literacy initiatives.

  • He informed that as of April 25, Axis Bank Ltd. has 5,868 branches in India with 202 in the northeast region and 17 in Nagaland—including branches in Kohima, Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Mon, Wokha, Zunheboto and Mokokchung.

  • Highlighting employment opportunities, he said there are more than 150 Axis Bank staff in Nagaland with 95% being locals. He also informed that Axis Bank has a total of 14,528 ATM in India including 329 in the northeast and 27 in Nagaland.

  • He further informed that churches, schools and societies could open accounts with Axis Bank and avail of digital solutions such as fee collection and other services.

  • A speech was also delivered by Zekuovi Khatso, landlord of the new Axis Bank Lerie Branch.

  • Vikehenuo Zumvu, relationship manager of Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Co. Ltd., enthralled the gathering with a song, while a prayer was said by Atho Sothu, pastor of Lerie Baptist Church. The vote of thanks was delivered by Anili Yeptho, branch operation head of Axis Bank Ltd., Lerie Branch.
