Awareness campaign on menstrual health and hygiene held at Satheri

The Phek district administration and District Level Center for Women (DLCW)- Mahila Shakti Kendra under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) on Monday conducted an awareness campaign on menstrual health and hygiene cum sensitisation on women-centric schemes at Satheri village under Khuza circle in Phek district.

An update stated that the programme was held with the aim to enhance the knowledge of hygienic practices and precautionary measures to avoid health hazards and diseases relating to women. The purpose of the programme was also to disseminate information relating to central government schemes on women and adolescent girls and to mobilise communities and society to bring about the necessary changes in attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs about gender equality.

The women-centric schemes like DLCW- Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Women Helpline 181, Sakhi- One Stop Centre (OSC), Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), Widow Pension, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojona (PMMVY) were highlighted during the programme.

To mark the occasion, sanitary pads were distributed to women and adolescent girls while baby gift hampers were also gifted to the new born child.
