Assam Rifles conducts educational tour, security meeting
DIMAPUR — An educational tour organised by Assam Rifles for 45 students from underprivileged families in border villages in Shamator district was flagged off on Monday.
An update mentioned that during the eight-day tour, the team will be visiting Jorhat, Kaziranga, Dimapur and Kohima. It aims at giving children from the villages an opportunity to gain exposure and broaden their horizons, it said.
It also stated that the village authorities, parents, and school staff thanked the Assam Rifles for their efforts in providing learning opportunities to the students.
Security meeting at Chakhabama
On Monday, it held a security meeting at Chakhabama with the theme “Together we stand”. The meeting was attended by 25 people, including the head GB, GBs, and village council members from Sakhabama, Kezo town, and Kezo Basa village.
During the meeting, various issues that required attention, such as administration, security, and coordinated development efforts, were discussed, as well as various measures and coordination at all levels to be implemented for the forthcoming elections.
Wreath-laying ceremony at Ghaspani
A wreath-laying ceremony was organized by the Assam Rifles at the Unit War Memorial in Ghaspani to pay homage to the bravehearts, Rifleman (General Duty) Shyam Singh, awarded the Shaurya Chakra posthumously, and Rifleman (General Duty) Gambhir Singh.
They made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on January 28, 1998, when the unit was deployed in Thoubal Bazar, Manipur, the update mentioned.
The event was attended by three officers, 21 junior commissioned officers (JCOs), and 258 other ranks of the battalion.
During the gathering, attendees were briefed on how the fallen heroes displayed conspicuous gallantry, indomitable resolve, grit, determination, and selflessness beyond the call of duty, ultimately making the supreme sacrifice.
