Assam Rifles celebrates Republic Day through various initiatives
DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles observed the 75th Republic Day in Peren district and the celebration included the unfurling of the national flag, interactions with the locals, and engagement with children.
According to a press release, 45 Assam Rifles personnel as well as 122 locals, including local authorities and villagers, attended the ceremony.
In celebration of the day, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Schneider Electric Foundation India and Sunbird Trust, distributed 118 solar lights to the residents of Chingnyu village and 175 lights to the people of Dan village.
It stated that the corporate social responsibility initiative aimed to provide sustainable and reliable lighting solutions to improve the quality of life for residents and that these high-quality and high-performance lights would assist locals with their daily household chores and children’s education.
Assam Rifles also celebrated Republic Day with students of Dimapur Railway High School. The event featured interactions with students and teachers and saw an attendance of over 50 students and eight teachers.
According to the release, students and teachers appreciated the Assam Rifles’ efforts to organise such events that instill a sense of patriotism and affection for the nation.
Also, Assam Rifles organised an inter-village football tournament at Doyapur Football Ground to commemorate the 75th Republic Day and to encourage young people to be active and live healthy lifestyles.
The seven-day football tournament began on January 20, it said, adding that a total of 17 teams from various villages of Dhansiripar sub-division participated in the event.
The final match of the tournament took place on January 26, wherein the Zutovi team emerged victorious, defeating the Beisampuikam team by a score of 2-1.
