AR organises trophy parade for Late Capt N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament
DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles conducted a trophy parade for the upcoming 7th edition of Late Capt N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament, bringing together enthusiasts, players and communities to embrace the spirit of the sport.
The roadshow showcased a vibrant display of culture, unity, sportsmanship and friendship between the Nagas and Assam Rifles through the bustling streets of Kohima, drawing cheers and applause from onlookers.
The procession featured Vizosienuo Shuya, a programme announcer from All India Radio Station, Kohima accompanied by traditional Naga music and a live band as it proceeded from Lerie junction to High School junction through BOC junction, Phoolbari junction and Tinpati junction.
An update informed that the aim of the parade was to give wide publicity to the upcoming event including the schedule of the tournament, prize money and a brief about the life and act of valour of Late Capt N Kengruse, MVC.
The local population lauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles in promoting sports and fostering a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship amongst the youth of Nagaland, it said.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off on November 1 and promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent, sportsmanship and the indomitable spirit of Nagaland’s football community. Teams from all districts of Nagaland will compete for the honour of lifting the trophy which was on display during the parade.
