Inter School Football Tournament begins in Phek town

PHEK — A four-day Inter School Football Tournament for both boys and girls kicked off on Wednesday under the aegis of the 38th Assam Rifles, Phek Battalion. Commandant Col. Prashant Singh Chundawat declared the tournament open.

According an updates from Assam Rifles, a total of 285 students from 10 different schools of Phek Town, Losami Village, Phek Village and other villages of Phek district are participating in the tournament. The winner and runners up teams of both girls and boys will be awarded with trophies along with cash prizes and sports kits.

The first of its kind in the district, the participating school teachers and students expressed happiness over the initiative of the Assam Rifles and hoped that more of similar events would be organised even in the future.

The tournament which will conclude on October 28 is aimed to encourage the local populace and students to instill physical fitness and sports in their life, which will help them in character building and boost confidence in their life.
