Along flags-off two ambulances for Mangkolemba

DIMAPUR — Minister of Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, on Saturday flagged-off two ambulances for primary health centre (PHC) for Mangkolemba sub-division in Mokokchung district during a programme held at the directorate of Tribal Affairs.

A DIPR report stated that the project was implemented by Tribal Affairs department, Government of Nagaland, and funded by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.

Speaking at the programme, Along informed that the two ambulances were for Japukong range primary health centre (PHC) and Tsurangkong range under Mangkolemba sub-division. He called upon the officers and the leaders of the two ranges to be responsible to educate the people on good governance.

The minister also expressed hoped that Japukong and Tsurangkong ranges, which constitute of more than 35 villages besides the neighbouring villages and petty workers would be benefitted from the life-support ambulances. He mentioned that the life-support ambulances which were available only in Kohima and Dimapur are now being made available in the rural and village areas, which according to him is an achievement for the Health and Family Welfare department.

He informed that the ambulances would be maintained by both the PHC and the community. He added that to help the two PHC, technicians would be appointed and the salary for the drivers would be borne under LADP fund.

The principal director of Health and Family Welfare, E Motsuthung Patton, in his short speech, thanked the department of Tribal Affairs for providing the two life-support ambulances and expressed hope that it would be beneficial for the people of the area. He also thanked the department of Tribal Affairs for their help in infrastructure development and construction of new sub-centres.

Short speeches were also delivered by president of Tsurangkong range, Moanuksung, and president of Japukong Range, Imdongtangba.

The project officer of Tribal Affairs, Imsumeren, who chaired the programme, gave a brief highlight on the technical report and specification of the two life-support ambulances.
