DIMAPUR — The assistant registrar of cooperative societies (ARCS), Wokha, hosted the 70th All India Cooperative Week celebration 2023 on the theme ‘Role of cooperatives in making India a USD 5 trillion economy and SDGs’ at the conference hall of the DC Wokha on November 18.

According to a DIPR report, K Furhesie Nyuwi, ADC (Hq.) Wokha, who addressed the gathering as the guest of honour, emphasised that the achievements and success stories of cooperative societies reflect the economic well-being of a state or nation.

He urged cooperative societies to go beyond just existing on paper and to operate with credibility, commitment, and dedication, cultivating a work culture and creating opportunities.

Obendangba, ARCS Wokha, highlighted in his welcome address that the Wokha district has over 600 cooperative societies, which unite individuals voluntarily to advance their economic interests through collaborative efforts. He encouraged them to work hard and strive to meet their goals.

In his keynote address, T Alanthung Ngullie, SRCS Wokha, emphasised that the week-long celebration provides an opportunity for cooperatives to showcase their success stories, project achievements, and outline a future action plan.

He stated that the goal is to promote cooperative development and raise public awareness through workshops, seminars, and other activities related to the theme. (MPCS)

Sulanthung Ngullie, secretary of the Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Ltd. (MPCS), Agri Colony, Wokha, highlighted on the occasion the activities of the society, including fish farming, operating a fabrication shop, establishing rubber and beetle nut plantations, and operating a common service centre (CSC) through Digital India.

Over 100 people participated in the event.
