Mokokchung, Kiphire observe All India Co-Operative Week

DIMAPUR — Office of the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies (ARCS), Mokokchung division, observed the 70th All India Co-Operative Week at Sangtemla multi-purpose hall in Mokokchung town on Friday on the theme “The role of cooperatives in making India $5 trillion economy and SDGs”.

Addressing the gathering, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Mokokchung, Chumlamo Humtsoe, said the force in making a society strong and moving forward is through the culture of cooperation and working collectively.

He added that active registered societies in the district could lead the community to another level, stated a DIPR report.

Maintaining that active participation of the community is vital in addition to the efforts put in by the employees to fulfil the objective of the department (Cooperative Societies), he urged the individuals as well as the societies to be prompt in repaying loan availed from banks in order to progress collectively.

Short speeches were delivered by Deputy District Agriculture Officer, Maongsangla, and Manager of NSCB Ltd., Mokokchung.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by assistant registrar of cooperative societies (ARCS), Mokokchung, Imtionen.

Kiphire district also observed the All India Cooperative Week on Friday at Seili complex in Kiphire town with Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, John Tsulise Sangtam, as the guest of honour.

In his speech, the DC informed that there are more than 400 registered societies but most of them are not functioning. Stating that the government would support hard working individual and society, he urged the cooperative societies to work hard and build the society.

Sangtam also called upon the cooperative societies to play an active role for the development of the district, as well as encouraged the gathering to change their mindset and take up new ventures.

The keynote address was delivered by SRCS, K Lirichum Anar, while Chumlongse Sangtam, chairman of Atsitsa Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Ltd. Kiphire, also spoke at the event.
