AIDA distributes solar lighting to 200 households

DIMAPUR — The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), Nagaland, in collaboration with St. Xavier College, Jalukie, distributed solar home lighting systems to 200 rural households at the auditorium hall of the college, Jalukie, on Thursday.

According to a DIPR update, the Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar, who attended the event as a special guest, lauded AIDA and the college for organising such a programme and stated that such programmes help sustain life in villages.

He also encouraged the gathering to participate in social activities and enhance social endeavours. The DC went on to say that people’s priorities can define what society does and that participating in such social activities can help transform society.

Rev. Fr. Roy George, SDB executive director of AIDA, stated in his speech that it was the first phase in Nagaland to distribute home lighting systems to 200 households, with 800 solar systems to be distributed in the coming days.

During the distribution programme, Deputy Commissioner Peren handed over solar home lighting systems to the representatives of Nsong village, Old Ngaulong village, Beisumpuiloa village and Lalong village.
