DIMAPUR — The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) launched a Swavalamban Silai School in Wokha district on Wednesday, offering tailoring skills training to 50 women from 50 different villages.

According to a press release, the inauguration of the school was held on Wednesday at AIDA, Dimapur, with Ngimchule Nampeung, assistant commissioner of police (Traffic), Dimapur, serving as the special guest.

Nampeung encouraged the female trainees in her speech by sharing her journey as a female officer, offering insights into how she adeptly navigated the complexities of societal expectations to establish her worth as a woman.

She also encouraged the trainees to strive for economic independence and financial self-sufficiency, and she conveyed to the female trainees a message of resilience and the transformative power of determination and support.

Rev. Fr. Roy George SDB, AIDA’s executive director and chief functionary, speaking on the occasion, emphasised the importance of empowering women in rural communities. He also lauded the collaboration of the Small Industries Development Bank of India, Usha International, and the Nagaland State Livelihood Rural Mission in empowering women.
