- KOHIMA — Advisor
of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) and New and Renewable
Energy, Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, on Saturday underlined the importance of education
to being about changes in the society.
- Speaking at the 25th general conference of the Pochury Hoho
Kohima (PHK) at Ura Academy Hall, Nyuthe said, "Through education, we
unlock opportunities for growth, progress and a brighter future, equipping our
children to dream bigger, think critically and lead with courage."
- He stated that the rich natural resources endowed in Pochury
area combined with the power of education can propel the community’s growth. He
added that investment in education would ensure progress with purpose,
knowledge and resilience.
- Nyuthe expressed his happiness to note that a student from
St. Xavier Higher Secondary School in Meluri secured Top 20 in HSLC, while a
Pochury lad secured Top 6 in the Science stream of the HSSLC examination
conducted by NBSE.

- "This achievement reflects the hard work,
determination, and commitment of both students and educators," he said
- The advisor also stressed the need to uphold responsibility
and accountability by every individual for the society to progress. He further
stated that success is not only about personal achievement but also about
contributing to the growth and well-being of the entire community.
- The president of Pochury Hoho, Chonpa Jurry, stated that God
has been merciful to the Pochury people for granting a separate tribe and new
district. He called upon the Pochury people to uphold unity and stand together
firmly before the Nagas and the world.
- Stating that many intellectuals from Pochury community are
residing in Kohima, he emphasised the need to be broad-minded, leaving aside
their origin and upholding the Pochury people as one.
- A speech was also delivered by former minister Yitachu, who
called upon the Pochury to march forward in unity and develop a sense of
belongingness, which he stated is the strength.
- “Pochury as a tribe and Meluri have a huge opportunity and
can be a job provider to the rest of the world given its resources and
strategic location,” he said adding it can greatly contribute to the state's
economy.
- The presidential address was delivered by Washusie Katiry,
who also congratulated the students who have excelled in their examinations. He
also paid tributes and honoured all torchbearers of Pochury Hoho Kohima.
- The programme was led by S Akho Leyri, executive member PHK,
while members from Kamaleah area and Apoksah range enthralled the gathering
with folk songs and an invocation prayer was said by Samson Thurr,
missionary-at-large.
- The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by
Chutsüsie Thowachu, finance secretary of PHK.
