Advisor Khamo champions entrepreneurship for self-reliance, economic growth

CHETHEBA — MLA and advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo on Thursday underscored the need for people to take up entrepreneurship as a means to boost self-reliance and move towards a progressive economy.

Addressing a consultative meeting of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) 18th Chozuba Assembly Constituency, he said that entrepreneurship is the engine that propels economic growth and development, and urged the people, especially the youth, to take up entrepreneurship.

The meeting was held alongside a programme for disbursement of Local Area Development Funds (LADF) at Chetheba Town Hall, aimed at encouraging progressive farmers and fostering a business mindset within the community.

Sharing his vision, Khamo proposed ‘One Family One Project, One Family One entrepreneur and One Family One Prayer Time’ as a means to empower the community.

He also pointed out the need for infrastructural development in Chozuba constituency, and called for collaborative efforts to bridge the gap.

Underlining the key areas of focus, he stressed the importance of strengthening agriculture, education, sports, employment opportunities, and entrepreneurship. He also expressed concern for healthcare services and pledged to continue charitable initiatives.

Khamo expressed gratitude for the public’s support and reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling their aspirations. He urged party workers to unite for the betterment of all, emphasising the need to overcome selfishness and foster harmony for a just and progressive society.

Expressing concern about cultural erosion, he highlighted the need to restore cultural values, underscoring that culture is not only about dances, songs and attires but the culture of honesty, hard work, integrity, and putting God in everything.

Further, he observed the need for people to change their attitude from ‘trusting money to trusting God,’ change from begging to giving, and from relying on others to relying on their own potential.

He also stressed on the need to fight social evils such as substance abuse and corruption to pave the way for societal progress and development.

Earlier, Vepozoyi Theyo, convenor of Verification Committee for LADP, briefed the gathering about the history of LADP. He also lauded Khamo on behalf of the constituency for starting the noble initiative to uplift the people, while advising the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds.

Vesupra Luruo, convenor of LADP implementation committee, said the advisor had brought about change in the system and will expressed hope that he would continue to implement the same vision of making an impact in the lives of his constituents.

During the programme, welcome address was delivered by Vevohu Epao, president of 18 Chozuba AC and the programme was led by Thepukrayi Nienu, general secretary, 18 Chozuba AC, who is also the secretary of LADP implementation committee.

Invocation prayer was offered by Zapose Dawhuo, Pastor of Chetheba Town Baptist Church (CTBC) and benediction prayer was pronounced by Mudonuyi Veswuh, Chaplain, 18 Chozuba AC.

Over 430 beneficiaries availed the first phase of the LADF.
