Kohima, Oct. 25 (EMN): A book titled "This is how we disappear," written by Dr. Emisenla Jamir, was released by Mmhonlumo Kikon, advisor of New and Renewable Energy Resources, IT&C, Science and Technology, on Tuesday at Kohima College Kohima (KCK).
Speaking at the book launch event, Kikon encouraged the Naga writers and poets to promote literature and also promote reading culture. He remarked works of Emisenla as ‘seamless with comfort, easiness and familiarity of the language.’
Kikon also elaborated on the importance of books through literature and written forms, which contributed towards building a society.
He also appreciated the Penthrill Publication House for being the voice of the rural people in publishing the works of writers.
Dr. Emisenla Jamir had previously released a poetry book titled 'Loneliness is an Orange.' She is an assistant professor at Kohima College Kohima.
In her publishers note, Vishü Rita Krocha of Penthrill Publication House said the work of the author 'Loneliness is an Organge' was well received by the readers and expressed delight to publish the new book. She also wished her well.
Dr. Kevileno Sakhrie, literary critic and former head of English department at KCK, spoke about the book and remarked that Emisenla is one of Nagaland's brightest and most proficient young poets to emerge from a newly rising breed of women 'word warriors.'
Sakhrie, who also wrote the forward of the book, stated that the book is a new collection of poems. She added that the poet deftly moved from narratives to lyrical, from ethical negotiation to fierce resistance, from exploration of gender and power and family intimacies to small yet poignant and often startling diamond-point moments of lucidity.
The book launch event was chaired by Dr. Avinuo Kire, assistant professor of English at KCK, while Limajungla Jamir, assistant professor of English at KCK, said the prayer.
