Act of Kindness set to host Magnum Opus 2024

DIMAPUR — The Act of Kindness (AoK) is set to host its 9th edition of Magnum Opus 2024 on October 25 and 26 at Artsy Naga School of Fine Arts in Diphupar under Chümoukedima district.

This was informed by Visalia Yeptho and Andrian Mahung, AOK governing members, and Tunavi, proprietor of Artsy Naga, during a press conference held at Peres Café in Dimapur on Tuesday.

They informed that the two-day event would be focused on painting competition, sculpting workshop, painting workshop and art demonstration.

The painting competition would be conducted in three categories namely junior (age 14-18), sub-junior (under 13 years) and open category, which would be judged by Aku Zeliang, founder of Urra design and objects; Moaso Aier, artist; and Limasangwa Aonok, artist at SAS, Nagaland university.

The members informed that cash prizes of INR 15,000 and INR 10,000 would be awarded to the first two winners of the painting competition under open category, INR 10,000 and INR 6000 for junior category and INR 4000 and INR 2000 for sub junior category.

The organisers would charge a registration fee of INR 200 for open category, INR 150 for junior category and INR 100 sub junior category.

It was informed that there would be a two-day workshop on sculpting (registration fee of INR 700) and one-day of workshop on painting (INR 350 registration fee).

The members informed that workshop on portrait sculpting, understanding anatomy and proportions, sculpting major features and detailing and refining would be conducted on the first day. It would be followed by workshop on mould-making and casting, preparing the sculpt for moulding, creating the mould and demoulding and finishing on the second day.

The resource person for sculpting workshop would be Mughaka Swu (sculptor) and Ritsanok Longchar (artist) would be the resource person for painting workshop.
