Kohima: Deputy General of Police, Nagaland Rupin Sharma, emphasised on the need to embrace “change” for growth, development and sustainable future.

He was speaking during a career talk organised for the youngsters as part of the year-long celebration of 75th anniversary of Kigwema Students’ Union (KSU) at Kigwema village on April 8.

As Christianity has brought a change in Nagaland, Sharma said the youths have to change for the better of the society.

Sharma asked them to promote their culture and traditions with others, as they adapt other cultures of other people.

He asked the educated youths to visit other districts within and outside the state to interact with people so that they can identify their interests and skills.

‘Knowing one’s worth and what one is good at are crucial for a successful professional life,’ he said.

Neisato Neihu, Global Services Head, Infosys, who also hails from Kigwema, while speaking at the programme, said that confidence in facing interviews, developing reasoning and critical thinking while having skills such as communication, creativity, analytical, problem solving, data driven etc. are vital to get jobs in companies.

Mezhüvi Thorie, president of KSU, informed that they were organising the year-long anniversary with a nine point vision on the theme: “towards a sustainable future.”

According to the KSU, the nine point visions are addressing the well-being in a holistic way; adjusting to planetary boundaries; empowering individuals and communities; moving to a regenerative and collaborative economy; building competencies for a complex world; developing inclusive and adaptive robust society; do more with less; do better with less; and elevate the common good.
