DIMAPUR — The 8th Gospel Sports Meet of the Rongmei Baptist Men Fellowship, Rongmei Baptist Church Association Nagaland (RBCAN), at Rongmei Baptist Church, Mhainamtsi, concluded on Saturday, with G Apan, finance secretary of the Nagaland National Master Game Association, as the guest of honour.
Addressing the attendees, Apan emphasised that individuals should not solely be concerned with worldly possessions but should instead prioritise their lives based on Christian values.
Around 300 participants from different churches and fellowships participated in the football (10 teams) and volleyball (12 teams) competitions held over three days. Individual events like arm wrestling, races, high jump, shot put, solo singing and extempore speech were also conducted.
In the arm wrestling 40+ category, Pouhuailung from ERBC won the title. Tampithanang from ERBC clinched the below 40 event. Thansin from RBCM won the 100m, 400m, and high jump events. Gaikuhian Kamei from RBCJT won the shot put. Pouthoi Gangmei from RBCK was the extempore speech winner. Chingkhiudai from RBCM won the solo singing event.
In team events, RBC Jalukie Town won the choral competition and Bible quiz. ERBC emerged as champions in volleyball, while RBCM won the football tournament.
The best discipline team award went to BMF, RBC Jalukie Town. Baptist Men Fellowship, RBCM were declared overall champions.
The organising committee thanked the match patrons, donors, volunteers and all participants for making the sports meet a success. Special thanks were conveyed to the special guest and guest of honour during the opening and closing ceremonies, respectively.
