70,558 applicants on live register of employment exchanges in Nagaland

  • KOHIMA — A total of 70,558 applicants have been recorded on the live register of the employment exchanges in Nagaland, as of December 31, 2024.

  • This was furnished in the Annual Administrative Report 2024-25 of the Directorate of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, tabled in the recently concluded sixth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) in Kohima.

  • Out of 70,558 applicants, 50,413 were male and 20,145 female.

  • According to the report, the ‘Below Matric’ category consisted of 18,118 applicants, of whom 16,065 were male and 2,053 female.

  • A total of 12,603 were matriculates, including 10,230 males and 2,373 females; 11,209 were pre-university applicants, including 7,561 males and 3,648 females.

  • The number of graduates stood at 20,599, with 12,252 males and 8,347 females; while 5,625 were postgraduates, including 2,621 males and 3,004 females.

  • A total of 1,879 applicants held technical degrees, out of which 1,308 were male and 571 female, while in the diploma category, 376 were male and 149 female, making a total of 525.

  • According to the report, a total of 1,374 registrations were made in 2024 under ‘self-employment,’ with 870 males and 504 females. A total of 142 placements were made.

  • The breakdown of registration data shows that Kohima/Peren recorded 485 registrations, followed by Dimapur with 302, Phek (294), Mon (104), Zunheboto (79), Wokha (47), Tuensang/Kiphire (37), and Mokokchung/Longleng (26).

  • In placements, Kohima/Peren recorded 96 placements, including 63 males and 33 females, while Phek registered 46 placements, with 25 males and 21 females. The remaining districts recorded nil placements.

  • Meanwhile, the department’s report on ‘Physically Handicapped’ applicants in the live register of the employment exchanges as of December 31, 2024, shows a total of 1,077 applicants, with 741 males and 336 females.

  • A total of 54 were graduates and above, including 48 males and 6 females; 33 were pre-university applicants, with 29 males and 4 females; 87 matriculates, with 62 males and 25 females. A total of 903 were recorded under the ‘Below Matric/Illiterate’ category, with 602 males and 301 females.

  • According to the breakdown of the ‘Categories of Physically Handicapped Applicants,’ 90 were blind, 188 deaf and dumb, 776 had orthopaedic disabilities, 12 respiratory disorders, eight negative leprosy, two locomotor disabilities, and one applicant had mental retardation.
