2nd Open Chakhesang Naga Wrestling Championship from Nov. 3

Dimapur, Oct. 24 (EMN): Under the aegis of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), the 2nd Open Chakhesang Naga Wrestling Championship 2022 and Under-14 Naga Open Wrestling Championship is all set to be held on November 3 and 4 at Pfutsero sports complex.

An update informed that the event will be organised by the Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) in collaboration with the ‘4th edition of the peace marathon’ to be hosted by the Kalos Society, Pfutsero.

Former president of CWA, Vekhosa Ruho, will be the special guest in the Under-14 championship to be held on November 3.

Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA, and Neikhrolo Khalo, vice president of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) will attend the championship on November 4 as special guest and guest of honour respectively.

The ‘Peace marathon race’ will also take place on November 3 and the race, which will be launched simultaneously at Sakraba and Porba, will culminate at Pfutsero Sports complex, it stated.

The Under-14 championship is limited to 32 wrestlers on first come first register basis. Intending wrestlers should be born on or after November 3, 2008.

The registration form should be supported by Aadhaar card along with photocopy of either immunisation card or church birth record countersigned by the respective church pastor.

Along with citations, cash prizes for the Under-14 championship are as follows:

Champion – INR 10,000, second position – INR 8,000, third position – INR 6,000, fourth position – INR 3,000 and losing quarter finalists – INR 1000 each.

In the open championship on November 4, prominent wrestlers including Kezhavizo Thevo (reigning 1st edition champion), Venuzo Dawhuo (reigning NWA champion), Atul Shirole, Karnataka wrestling champion, three wrestlers from Delhi besides other local wrestlers are in fray for the coveted title, it stated.

Cash prizes for the open wrestling championship are as follows: Champion — INR 2,00,000; second position — INR 1,00,000; third position — INR 70,000; fourth position — INR 50,000 and losing quarter finalists — INR 10,000 each.

Last date for submission of free registration is October 28. Tickets for the championship can be availed at Pfutsero – Airwave, Phek Town – M/S K.
