Zunheboto observes Infection Control Review Week

Dimapur, Dec. 15 (EMN): The office of the chief medical officer (CMO) and Nagaland Health Project, Zunheboto, observed the “Infection control review week” at Satakha PHC on December 14.

Speaking at the programme, Dr. K Akaho Sema, CMO Zunheboto, has stressed on the importance of infection control and bio-waste management. He also urged the public to be aware and follow guidelines provided by government to prevent infection and contamination of the health facility, anupdate from the CMO’s office stated.

Akaho also stated that out of all the waste generated in a health facility, only 20% were hazardous and it was crucial that those waste are appropriately handled and disposed off to avoid contamination of the health facility.

Also speaking on the occasion, Tokuli Wotsa, DPM-QA, stated that waste generated in the health unit must be segregated at source in an appropriate colour-coded dustbins and disposed off separately.

In the first session, Satakha PHC staff demonstrated on how they manage waste in their facility, while in the second session, facility-level training on National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) for healthcare workers was conducted.
