ZRSU requests Higher Education department to fulfill its demand within 15 days

Dimapur, Sep. 14 (EMN): Students and teachers of Zunheboto Government College are facing “untold hardships” due to lack of development and acute shortage of teaching faculty, the Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) has said.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ZRSU said that it had submitted a representation to the department of Higher Education through the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto on September 13, highlighting the shortage of 21 teachers in the college.

The union asserted that the lack of teachers is affecting the teaching-learning process and smooth functioning of the college to a large extent.

Furthermore, no appointment had been made in place of the teachers who were transferred, promoted or demised, it claimed.

Accusing the Higher Education department of jeopardising the academic careers of the students by not deploying sufficient teachers at Zunheboto Government College, the only college in the district, the union urged the concerned authority to appoint the required number of staff in all the departments of the institute.

Meanwhile, pursuant to a consultative meeting between ZRSU and Zunheboto Government College Students’ Council on August 8, 2022, the union appealed to the concerned authority to fulfill its demand within 15 days of submitting the representation.

The union warned of taking its own course of action if the department fails to fulfill its demand within the stipulated time.
