DIMAPUR — The Zhadima Students’ Union (ZSU) has awarded the ZSU presidential scholarship to two deserving students during a ceremony held at the Zhadima community hall on Thursday with its former president, Seyiekhrielhou Kuotsu, as the guest speaker.

The scholarship, which aims to support academic excellence, was awarded to Viketoulie Miario, a Class 8 student of Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, and Menuosieü Chüpuo, a first-year BA student of Kohima College. Both the recipients were granted INR 15,000 each, stated an update from the union.

Addressing the gathering, Kuotsu acknowledged ZSU’s significant contribution to the community, despite being the youngest organisation in the village. He highlighted that the scholarship marked a new chapter for students and encouraged them to utilise the scholarship wisely for their academic advancement rather than on personal expenses.

Kuotsu encouraged the students to use the opportunity to excel and give back to the society and also challenged the recipients to work hard and aim for greater achievements.

He further announced his commitment to sponsor the next scholarship in honour of his family, encouraging the ZSU to continue the scholarship rather than a one-time grant.

The ZSU president, Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucü, shared that the scholarship, a one-time grant, was introduced to encourage academic pursuits among village students. Out of six applicants, two were selected after a thorough review of documents and an interview process, he informed.

One of the recipients expressed gratitude, saying the scholarship provided hope and motivation to continue their educational journey.

The programme was chaired by ZSU ILP secretary, Khriesavizo Sorünuo, while an invocation prayer was said by Pezachülie Philip, catechist of Sts Peter and Paul Church.

ZSU statistical secretary, Petekhrietuo Peter Soliezuo, gave an overview of the scholarship selection process, while the vote of thanks was delivered by assistant general secretary, Keduoneituo Augustine, and song was presented by ZSU general secretary, Mhasizolie Metsieo.
