DIMAPUR — Advocating that Nagas are of one family, advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, encouraged to foster brotherhood and forged unity to usher in more positive changes and development.

Enunciating that unity of a village–be it political, social, traditional or any other– is prerequisite to bring development, he felt that it is high time to take vital steps toward the right direction to bring about changes in the Naga society.

Zhaleo stated this during the inauguration of a new playground in Tsiepama village on Wednesday. The construction along the hilly terrain, which took over a year reportedly due to natural constraints and measuring 70 x 100 metres approximately, will cater to all kinds of games and sports for the village.

Zhaleo conveyed utmost appreciation to the state government, contributors, workers and the village for timely completion in spite of many unforseen hurdles encountered during the construction. He stated that the development symbolised unity of the villagers and that their logistic support rendered was exemplary, an update from the media secretary of NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II AC stated.

He advised the people to utilise the ground in nurturing more sportsmen like Neithovilie Chalieu, who hails from the village.

“Neithou, as a talented and committed professional, has brought laurels to the state for being recognised as one of the best goalkeepers at national level. I believe more such young talents will be moulded through the collective efforts of leaders and villagers,” Zhaleo said.

He called upon the village elders to organise rigorous coaching camps and trainings for budding players. He also advised to approach the concerned department, which is always ready to provide assistance and expertise.

Describing Tsiepama as one of the oldest and largest villages in Chakhroma region, which has produced renowned politicians, he called upon the people to continue manifesting God’s blessing and wisdom by fostering stronger bonds in the society.

The inaugural function was chaired by Neisavilie, while Seyiezhalie Khro, pastor of CRC Tsiepama, said the invocation and Seyievizo Visezuo, chairman of Tsiepama village council, delivered the welcome address.

Youth and elders of Tsiepama village presented songs, while Zhagwelhou Chalieu pronounced the vote of thanks.

Chalieu has particularly thanked Zhaleo for undertaking the daunting task to construct a standard playground from the hilly terrain as well as to contractors Rokolhou Angami, Zaputuo and Medo for being instrumental in successful completion of the playground on time. He further requested the advisor and state government to expedite the process of road widening and blacktopping of the village road.
