Dimapur, May 18 (EMN): The deputy speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Zhaleo Rio, said responsible leaders should be cautious not to mislead people with false principles but should guide with wisdom and truth.
Rio was stated to have been addressing the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) of 5th Ghaspani-II assembly constituency officials, core committee members and other officials held at an emergency meeting on May 18 at Ward 5, Medziphema town.
The deputy speaker who is also the MLA of the constituency, urged the party workers to work in unity for the PDA government and to elect the chosen candidate, Tokheho Yepthomi.
“At this juncture when Nagas are crying for a final solution with GOI, we need leaders like Tokheho who is a man of action committed for the welfare of people”, Rio said.
There are a number of priorities which will gradually be implemented as declared by the PDA in its common minimum program, he added.
Speaking the common opinion of people, Rio affirmed that religion has no relation with politics. He asserted that only ‘some vested interests may keep spreading propaganda of varied hues to confuse people.’
Further, Rio appealed the party workers and supporters to remain steadfast in their vision and vote to strengthen the PDA government which will ultimately usher in change.
A press release from the constituency press secretary on Friday, the house unanimously vowed to give their utmost in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls scheduled to be held on May 28.
The general secretary of NDPP Central, Miathou Krose, highlighted the common minimum programmes of the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government.
Krose exhorted the gathered leaders to take note on authentic information while canvassing for the consensus candidate who is the most capable to represent Nagas at the centre.
Others who spoke during the meeting are president of 5th Ghaspani-II AC, Dosau Kuotsu; vice president of NDPP central, Keviyanei Tepa; NDPP founding member Gohu Vüprü; general secretary, Tokihe Zhimomi; regional representatives, Ashito Zhimomi, Zhatuo Kimho, Huska Zhimomi, and senior party leaders.
