Sumi students’ conference underway at Medziphema
Dimapur, Dec. 20 (EMN): Legislator Zhaleo Rio has reportedly lamented that the people electing their leaders in faith had come to a naught. Nonetheless, he has apologized to the people and has sought patience with the uncertain political scenario which might be solved soon.
The legislator was addressing a two-day general conference of the Sumi Students’ Union of Medziphema town got underway on Wed. The member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly was stated to be the event’s chief guest.
The conference is being conducted with the theme “be an asset for tomorrow” at the Sumi Baptist Church at Medziphema.
Addressing the gathering during the programme Rio is said to have expressed optimism at the combined gathering “as it has become vital that the young and old alike shoulder responsibilities together, even to the extent of inter-changing roles in the society.”
Lamenting the current political turmoil in Nagaland, he said that the people had with faith elected their representatives from different constituencies. But, he was stated to have said, ‘They failed to execute their duties in unity because of the temporary, impending fiasco.’
According to a press release from the students’ organization, Rio apologized to the people and requested everyone to ‘patiently bear’ with the uncertain political scenario which “will perhaps be over very soon.”
Speaking about education, Rio was said to have emphasized on productivity and not convenience. It is a requisite in today’s world that one should become something productive and not otherwise, was quoted as having said.
“It is near impossible to secure good government jobs now and therefore, students must choose their own area of interest in studies with proper guidance and wisdom in order to become self-sustainable or financially independent from one’s occupation in future,” he advised.
The legislator noted that parents also should be more tolerant in allowing children to pick their choice of studies.
