Dimapur, Feb. 26 (EMN): Advisor of Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, inaugurated a new Government Primary School (GPS) at Ighavito village under Aghunato sub-division in Zunheboto district on February 26. The inauguration of a new GPS coincided with the honey festival.

Addressing the villagers, Rio thanked God for His sustenance and protection through the Covid-19 pandemic also requested the leaders to sensitise one another in following all necessary guidelines or SoPs. He lauded the village youths for all their efforts in successfully establishing the new GPS as well as the honey festival, an update from Thejangukho Yalietsu, media secretary of NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II AC stated on Friday.

“The PDA government is committed to bring positive changes in all under developed areas of Nagaland,” Rio stated and cited the day’s programme as one such in a far-flung village which was established in 2009.

On the education sector, Rio queried as to why private schools always fared better than government schools when the latter have the most qualified, who were paid handsomely. He further warned teachers of stern action against appointing proxy teaching adding that “God’s wrath will be upon such teachers who fail in their respective jobs.”

Speaking on the honey fest, Rio opined that their “honey is perhaps one among the best in Zunheboto district” and urged beekeepers to opt for pure, organic honey so that their product could be exported to any part of the world.

“Quality organic honey is one where no fertilisers are used on flowering crops and harvesting, as also extraction of the honey is carried out with utmost care”, he stated.

The function was chaired by Khumtsa Swu, VDB secretary, while Yeboto Chishi, pastor of Ighavito Baptist Church, invoked God’s blessing and Zhuwoto Kiba, head GB of Ighavito village, delivered the welcome address. Special songs were presented by GPS students and the village womenfolk, while Sasuli Kiba, women pastor of Ighavito Baptist Church, pronounced the benediction.
