Zhaleo calls for timely completion of flagship programmes in state
Dimapur —Advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, expressed confidence that with support and cooperation of all the officers and staff working at different levels, various flagship programmes in the two departments could be completed smoothly.
Speaking at the reception programme held in his honour after taking over as the advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs at the conference hall of the Directorate of Urban Development in Kohima on Thursday, Zhaleo highlighted the importance of the two departments and challenges. He, however, expressed confident that the departments would be able to serve the public diligently with the support and cooperation of the officers and staff.
He urged the departments to work together as a team and to evaluate, study, analyse, exchange views and ideas for speedy implementation of projects and programmes, a DIPR report stated.
The advisor also advised the officers and staff to submit action plans within time limits so that no delay would occur when implementing different projects and programmes.
Zhaleo further stated that there was a need to upgrade of posts in the newly-formed districts and suggested that the departments give the proposal to the government.
The director of Urban Development, A Chenithung Lotha, in his welcome address, said the department was fortunate to work under the leadership of Zhaleo and look forward to his advice and guidance.
Meanwhile, the principal secretary of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, I Himato Zhimomi, gave a brief presentation of the department set-up, the central schemes and programmes like Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Swahh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U), National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) and others.
Zhimomi also apprised the advisor of other issues and concerns of the two departments.
The programme was chaired by the joint director of Urban Development, Tarachu Fithu and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the deputy director of Municipal Affairs, Kevileno Solo.
