- DIMAPUR — Eighteen
days after the brutal killing of a mother, the Pimla murder case remains
unsolved, prompting escalating action from the Zeliangrong Youth Organisation
Nagaland (ZYON).
- The victim's body was discovered on April 7 between Mhaikam
village and Pimla village.
- The first phase of ZYON agitation against the delay in
solving the case entered the third day on Friday. As part of this protest, the
organisation has shut down all government offices in Peren district, with the
exception of the district administration, and imposed a ban on the movement of
government-registered vehicles within the district.

- The president of ZYON, R John Zeliang, informed that a
consultative meeting with Peren-based civil society organisations is scheduled
for April 26.
- Furthermore, they are planning to meet with the home
commissioner of Nagaland early next week, most likely on Monday, to press their
demands.
- He asserted that the protest will continue until justice is
served. “This is only the first phase. If the government fails to provide a
satisfactory response in the coming week, we will launch the second phase,
which will be a complete shutdown of Peren district," he warned.
- The ZYON leader also criticised the state government's
handling of forensic evidence. "We cannot continue to blame the
unavailability of a forensic lab in the state. Samples need to be sent outside,
leading to delays due to a backlog of cases,” he said and urged the state
government to coordinate with other states to expedite the forensic analysis
process.
