Dimapur, June 29 (EMN): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union (ZSU) of Nagaland on Monday threatened to call for the third-phase of agitation, as the state government failed to respond to its charter of demands.

A press release from ZSU cautioned that in the event of any untoward incident arising out of the protest, the government would be held fully responsible.

Expressing resentment over the negligence and ignorance of the state government towards the genuine plight of the people of Peren district, the ZSU stated that the ”inattention posture of the government have provoked enough anxiety among the people and that it shall not remain a mute spectator anymore.”

ZSU said that it stands by its ultimatum submitted to the chief minister on June 10 and will fight for justice till the government give them their demands and legitimisation of their right to equality.

Stating that the union has suspended its proposed series of rallies, keeping in view the genuine appeal of the public and organisations, however, it alleged that the ”government still decides to remain a silent spectator.”

The student body further appealed to all the concerned citizens, civil society and organisations of the district ”to be prepared for worse if their peaceful protest is taken for granted.”
