Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has expressed dismay over rationalisation of schools and teachers in Peren district by the department of School Education, claiming that the decision on redeployment of teachers is poorly arranged without considering the ground reality faced by the student community and public.

In a press release, the union stated that the department might not revoke the proposal of Recommendation Committee of the district for rationalisation of teachers but just approve and make some arrangements even if it ‘fails to understand the urgency of teachers immediately required by the student community in some particular schools, as the headquarters of the department in the state capital’.

Expressing dissatisfaction, the union said it is unfair to transfer dedicated teachers, who are sincerely discharging their assigned duty for the betterment of student community, to other places. It, therefore, requested the department to reconsider and put the standing order on transfer of teachers “on hold” and come up with a fresh order in Peren district in the interest of the student community.

It went on to state that students will be adversely affected if the trend of allowing the teachers to be posted at their preferred places continues, while denouncing “random cross-transfer”.

The ZSUN also stated that it had come to its notice about some government schools facing acute shortage of teachers while others have excess, and asked the School Education department to look into the issues it had raised for the benefit of the student community.
