Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): A meeting held among the leaders of Zeliangrong community on May 5 at Lodiram village, North Cachar hills in Assam resolved not to accept any solution “that may render our people as the victim of the Naga political solution”.
This was informed through a joint press release issued on Sunday by the respective presidents of the All Zeliangrong Students’ Union, the Zeliangrong Youth Front, and the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN). The meeting, according to the statement, was attended by “social leaders, executive members, members of autonomous council, gaun bora of different villages, elders, intellectuals, scholars, government officers, religious leaders, women leaders, youth and student leaders, and general public”.
It was held to discuss the decision of the NSCN (IM) tatar hoho to ‘recognise’ Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei as separate tribes, the statement informed.
They were also stated to have discussed the speculation surrounding the final agreement to the Ind-Naga talks which it stated “is likely to be signed soon may not include the Zeliangrong people and their ancestral land of Assam depite the fact that our people have allowed our land for shelter to Naga national workers to carry out and achieve the Naga political movement, resources to sustain and move forward the Naga national movement, maximum support and cooperation extended apart from sacrificing precious lives, physically participated and involved in all times be it at the most critical time for the larger cause of Naga political issue”.
Consequently, it informed, they adopted four resolutions: to uphold the order of the yaruiwo (president) of the NSCN (IM), the late Isak Chisi Swu which was issued on June 30, 2011 “clearly stated therein that ‘Zeliangrong Region will remain intact’”; the ‘bond of oneness’ of Zeliangrong people is indestructible from within and without; Zeliangrong people will not accept any solution which may render them victims of the Naga political solution; and the Zeliangrong people will not succumb to any force which may threaten their unity and integrity from within and without.
