Zeliang officers take stock of quarantine centres preparedness in Peren

Dimapur, May 25 (EMN): Zeliang Officer’s Association Nagaland (ZOAN) visited the quarantine centres and Covid-19 hospital set up at Peren distrcit and held a meeting with district administration and medical department on May 23.

Peren Deputy Chiuef Medical Officer Dr. Supongmenla Walling, DSO Dr. Kevi Meyase and SMO Dr. Yetovi Tuccu, highlighted on the action plan and preparedness status of quarantine centres and Covid-19 hospital, informed an update from DIPR.

The medical department also briefed on the inadequate infrastructure, shortage of PPE as well as lack of manpower at the designated Covid19 Hospital, CHC Jalukie.

ZOANpPresident, Hiazu Meru said that the purpose of the meeting is to ascertain the preparedness of Peren district task force in the fight against the global pandemic as and also to extend solidarity to all the frontline workers for their selfless services rendered and further encouraged them to continue to work selflessly with equal zeal.

He also assured that the ZOAN will look forward to assist the district administration and medical department in all possible.

The visiting officials donated an amount of INR1 lakh to DC Peren, to utilise in the management of quarantine centres. They also inspected the hospital, to assess the preparedness and also to take stock of the resources available.

The team also had an interaction with Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Covid-19 and donated INR 30,000 and 50 face masks to the comiittee convenor, Dr. Tumda Newme.

While interacting, ZOAN president urged the members to work collectively with utmost sincerity and stressed on the need to organise sensitisation programme in village-level preventive measures.

Facility quarantine centres nodal officer, SDO (C) Kemciyile apprised the visiting officials that banana leaf will be used as an alternative for packing food items for serving the inmates in quarantine centres due to its eco-friendly waste disposal.

The officials along with nodal officer inspected quarantine centre at JNV School and St. Xavier College.
