ZBTO’s Vety conducts training for farmers
Dimapur, May 19 (EMN): The establishment of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry of Zunheboto conducted a three-day capacity building programme, understood to be part of the National Livestock Mission (NLM) 2015-16, for farmers of the district during May 16-18 in the veterinary hospital of Zunheboto.
38 livestock farmers from the district attended the event, a press release from the organisers informed earlier.
Dr. Ikato, Dr. Bocto Sumi, and Arong Jamir, supervisor of the hospital, were the resource persons for the event, it was informed. They spoke on various topics about ‘economically important diseases,’ and their prevention and control measures, among others. The event also had a session for group discussions.According to Dr. Ikato, livestock farming should not be just upholding age-old practices of forefathers “but the passion for farming should come from within ones heart setting realistically achievable objective / target with sustainable production to meet diverse requirements of the people.”
The updates stated that he encouraged them to ‘keep proper animal record in the farm for assessing the value of animals and farm management saying that food aspects have a bearing on the profitability of the animal production.’1
