Zasinihu Memorial Trophy: Adroit Boys advance to quarter finals

Jotsoma, Nov. 16 (EMN): Zeaneikho Miasalhou scored a hat-trick as Adroit Boys, Sechü Zubza blanked Terhüpourie 90s FC, Mezoma 5-0 to advance to the quarters of the ongoing Zasinihu Memorial Trophy here at Jotsoma village ground on November 16.
Sedekhotuo Nagi opened the account for the Adroit Boys in the first half, while substitute player Rüütuolie Chücha doubled the lead after the interval. Zeaneikho scored all his three goals in the second half, becoming the third hat-trick scorer of the tournament.
With the victory today, Adroit Boys will next play against Ferret FC, Jotsoma in the quarters tomorrow.
Earlier on the day, Ferret FC also registered their entry into the round of last eight following their victory against Khwüno United 3-0.
John was the star for Ferret FC as he scored all the three goals of the match. Mention be made that Thejaseto Peseyie of Jotsoma Students Union was the first hat-trick scorer of the tournament, followed by John of Ferret FC and Zeaneikho of Adroit Boys.
In another match, Unity Boys, Jotsoma also qualified for the quarters by defeating Sechüma Students’ Union via tie-breaker. The match headed for tie-breaker as the match ended in 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, Khonoma Students’ Union (KSU) also made it to the quarters following their victory against Rhododendron Sporting Club, Khonoma 2-0.
Playing the last match of the day, Sechü Zubza Students’ Union (SZSU) also survived a scare as they overcame Civic FC via tie-breaker to make it through to the round of last eight.
The tie-breaker was enforced as both the teams were locked in a goalless draw till the end of the stipulated time. Luck was on SZSU’s side today, as earlier on the day, SZSU also defeated Mezoma Students’ Union (MSU) via tie-breaker to qualify for the pre-quarterfinals. The match between SZSU and MSU also headed for tie-breaker as the stipulated time ended in 2-2 draw.
The 4th edition of Zasinihu Memorial Trophy will culminate on November 18. The winner of this year’s edition will fetch a cash award of Rs. 35,000, while the runners-up will receive Rs. 25,000. The two losing semifinalists will be given Rs. 8,000 each.
