Zakiesato school celebrates parents’ day

Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School today celebrated Parents’ Day and honoured them through a colourful event, which was graced by District Deputy Education Officer R Amongla Jamir as chief guest and Sivi Angami as guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest maintained that parents play a very important role in school’s development through their children and their cooperation towards the school can produce excellent results. Lauding the school for producing excellent results in the past, Amongla said the school should strive for providing higher education and go for opening science stream in the higher secondary level and later upgrad to a college level.Comparing the education level in government and private schools, she said most of the government schools have been facing problems of low enrolment. However, she expressed optimism that with the change in government’s education policy, things would change. She also said that private schools are models because of dedicated teachers and parents towards the students. The DDEO was all praise of ZMHSS for its active participation in all kinds of events conducted by her office, be it Republic Day or Independence Day programmes and other co-curricular activities. She appealed to the parents to continue to extend their support to the school and also encourage their children to dedicate themselves in their studies. Coordinator of the school, Joyson Shimray spoke about the celebration of parent’s day and its history, while also informing about the paradigm shift in the education sector. He informed that teaching has not become child-centric and more focussed on the development of children through various activities unlike in the past where it was teacher centric or book centric. He also acknowledged the role of the parents towards the development of school and expressed gratitude to them for being part of the school. N Yutsu, retired teacher, also spoke on behalf of the parents. The event was marked by cultural presentation by students of the school.
