‘YUVA Olympic ‘organised in Dimapur

Dimapur, June 18: The Assam Rifles and the Nagaland unit of the Young Indians (YI) organised ‘YUYA Olympiad’ for colleges of Dimapur and adjoining areas from June 17-18 at the State Stadium, Dimapur. The event saw participation of 650 students from 15 colleges in and around Dimapur. It was held in the disciplines of track and field events for boys and girls. The closing ceremony of the Olympiad was graced by the Parliamentary Secretary for Labour, Employment and Skill Development, Mmhonlumo Kikon, as the chief guest. Brig Brijesh Dhiman, Commander, 6 Sector Assam Rifles, was the guest of honour. Kikon interacted with the athletes and said that such kind of events would surely promote sportsmanship, according to a press release from the organizers. Brig Brijesh Dhiman also appreciated the efforts of youth from elite colleges of Dimapur who showed great enthusiasm, discipline and cooperation by their sole throughout the tournament , the press release stated. Medals were awarded to the participants who excelled at various track and field events. The Trophy for the Tournament was lifted by SD Jain College, Dimapur.
